This fallow deer is a native of Eurasia where it roams freely in abundance. It was imported to America to be raised on enclosed ranches for hunting purposes.. It can not be allowed to roam freely in North America because it is a fierce competitor with American whitetail deer. Fallow bucks do not shed their horns each winter like the whitetail bucks do and due to its aggressive disposition the competition would be highly skewed in favor of the fallow bucks. This buck was harvested in Texas hill country near Fredricksburg, Kerr County.
