A long, long time ago, at the dawn of civilization people learned to domesticate plants and animals rather than simply be gatherers and hunters. Domestication gave rise to surplus of food which led to specialized development of skills other than farming. People who advanced this way created civilizations greater than those who failed to adopt the agricultural techniques. In time the population growth in the rising civilization put a demand on land greater than the land could support, those who learned to use the land practicing conservation methods did well. Civilizations that failed to conserve their land declined and some disappeared leaving ruins behind them. This page is dedicated to the ideals of educating ourselves so our next generations can enjoy prosperity. Enjoy the images for their beauty, but keep in mind that the biodiversity in balance is the key for our longevity.

If you wish to do some reading on how food surplus promotes civilization development I highly recommend two books written by Jared Diamond.
1. Guns, Germs and Steel 2. Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed.
