This is a rainbow trout living in the Midwestern States' rivers and big lakes. When a rainbow goes out to the sea or one of the Great Lakes it lives there to maturity then it returns to its spawning streams where it originally started, it is then called the steelhead, some locals call them "steelies". This one was taken from the St. Joseph river in Michigan. Michigan's DNR is very active in stocking the rivers with rainbow fingerlings. Soon these fingerling grow a little and migrate to Lake Michigan where they are highly sought after by sport fishermen.
